ECU compatibility

ModuGauge reads your ECU's CAN broadcast. It never writes to the ECU, except when you turn on the touch keypad. If your ECU sends data on CAN, the gauge can show it.

Built-in profiles follow each ECU maker's published CAN documents. They're being checked against real cars before the first batch ships. Studio shows the exact steps for your ECU.

Custom CAN values

If your ECU isn't listed, enter each value the way its CAN document gives it: the ID, where it sits in the frame, the scaling and the unit. Studio checks it against a sample frame and warns about overlaps. You can also import a DBC file and match its signals to the gauge's readings.

Up to 24 values, Intel or Motorola byte order, signed or unsigned, plus four channels you name yourself, such as wastegate duty or boost target.

Wiring

Four wires and one optional:

  • 12 V switched: ignition-switched supply
  • Ground: to the same ground as your ECU
  • CAN high and CAN low: to your ECU's CAN bus, as a twisted pair
  • Dimmer (optional): to your parking lights, for night brightness

The gauge can terminate the bus itself if it's at one end; you switch this in Studio.
