How ModuGauge handles your information. Updated 1 November 2026.
Who to contact
Oliver Butler, trading as ModuGauge, 38 Avonhead Road, Christchurch 8042, New Zealand, is responsible for collecting and holding the personal information collected through this business. Oliver Butler is the privacy contact. For privacy questions, access or correction requests, email [email protected].
What we collect and why
The waitlist: your email, any optional name, country, car and ECU details, your selected gauges, the sign-up page and registration dates. We use these to send the launch updates you request and plan stock and ECU support. Without your email and consent we cannot register you; other details are optional.
Orders, when sales open: your name, email, phone number, delivery address, purchased items, optional ECU details, payment status and order references. We use these to fulfil orders, manage returns and support, and maintain business records. Stripe processes card payments and sends us checkout and payment information; our website does not receive or store your full card number. Contact and delivery details are needed to fulfil an order.
Support: the information and attachments you send when you contact us, used to respond and resolve your enquiry. Please only send information needed for the enquiry.
Gauge Studio: editing and saving a setup normally happens in your browser or in files on your device. Choosing to publish to the gallery uploads the setup file, including embedded pictures and fonts, its preview, title, display name and any car description. Published designs can be viewed, downloaded and adapted by others. Sharing is optional; use a display name and omit personal information you do not want made public.
Website operation: your browser stores the cart, Studio settings and preferences locally. The private-preview login uses a session cookie lasting up to 24 hours. Our hosting provider processes technical request information, such as IP addresses and browser details, to deliver and protect the site. When enabled, Cloudflare Web Analytics measures visits and page performance. Gallery protection stores a salted hash derived from your IP address to limit uploads and repeat use counts; the gallery database does not store the raw address. If enabled, Cloudflare Turnstile processes technical information for spam checks.
Information from others: we may receive relevant payment information from Stripe, delivery updates from a courier, or information about a support issue from someone acting for you. We use it for the same order or support purposes described above. Where the Privacy Act requires it, we will take reasonable steps to tell you about information collected from another source as soon as practicable, unless an exception applies. Please do not send or publish another person's information without authority.
Who else handles it
Cloudflare hosts the website and stores waitlist, order and gallery data. When sales open, Stripe will process payments and the courier will receive the details needed for delivery. Our email provider processes correspondence. We do not sell your personal information or add you to marketing lists just because you make a purchase.
Service providers may process information outside New Zealand. We remain responsible for information held on our behalf and use provider arrangements intended to protect it consistently with our New Zealand privacy obligations. We may also disclose information where required or permitted by law.
Social links take you to external services. Their privacy policies apply when you visit or interact with them.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from launch updates by emailing us with “unsubscribe”, or by using the unsubscribe instructions in a launch email. We will action requests within five working days. Unsubscribing does not stop messages needed to fulfil an order or respond to an enquiry.
You can request access to or correction of your information, or ask us to delete information we no longer need. We may verify your identity first. We will respond to access and correction requests as required by the Privacy Act 2020, normally within 20 working days, and explain any lawful reason we cannot fulfil a request.
If we do not make a correction you request, you can ask us to attach a statement of the correction sought. We will explain any extension to the response timeframe and your right to complain.
Retention and removal
We keep information only while needed for its purpose or a legal obligation. Tax records are normally retained for at least seven tax years. Waitlist and support information is reviewed and removed when no longer needed; a minimal unsubscribe record may be kept to respect your choice.
To request removal of a shared design, email its gallery link and enough information to identify your contribution. We may need to verify the request. We cannot recall copies other people have downloaded. You can clear locally saved cart and Studio data through your browser settings; save any setup files you want to keep first.
If you have a concern, please contact us so we can try to resolve it. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
Changes to this policy
We will update the date on this page when the policy changes. If we propose a materially different use of information already collected, we will notify you and obtain any consent required by law.
